Fall 2020 Quality Online Teaching and Learning Course

The Quality Online Teaching & Learning (QOTL) course is now available for Fall 2020 sign-ups!

There are two dates available for participation:
  • Monday, September 14, 2020
  • Monday, October 19, 2020
This course is designed as a 3-week course, with each module opening weekly. You'll complete course activities, readings, and engage in dialogue with your colleagues each week.

You'll be expected to complete all activities within the course, and each activity is designed to acquaint you with the skills necessary to develop your own online course.

Distance Education (DE) is supported by the ASLT Dean, Instructional Technologist, and Distance Education Coordinator:

For students, we provide:
  • Information about CSM resources for any online or hybrid class
  • Online and phone support for questions
  • Referrals for more help as needed
For faculty and staff, we provide:
  • Strategies for making online offerings more student-centered, flexible, and pedagogically innovative
  • Suggestions about DE courses that  better serve our under-prepared and underrepresented students
  • Suggestions on creating an integrated online "campus" – integrating library, counseling, financial aid and other services into the students' "virtual classroom" learning space
  • Online and face-to-face instructional materials to meet Section 508 accessibility standards
  • Information about emerging technologies and resources to support the enhancement of teaching and delivery of distance education courses
